The greatest joys in life are experienced in happy family relationships... the cultivation of a happy home requires effort and energy, forgiveness and patience, love and endurance and sacrifice, but it is worth all of this and more. -Gordon B. Hinkley

More summer stuff... baseball, camping & Trek 2014

Our really awesome real estate agent gave us tickets to a Rockies game. The kids were so excited. We spent a small fortune on food and drinks but it really was a fun and beautiful night. We watched the sun set over those Rockie Mountains and it was beautiful!

We spent 3 nights camping with some of our very best friends at West Chicago Creek.  It was so much fun and we had great weather.  It is for sure one of my favorite camp grounds!

Teed & Ryan came this time, yay!  They did great for their first camp-out with Jaimeson and he had a total blast!

best friends and so dang cute together!

more best friends...

we started a hike all together but realized after about 2.5 miles that the little kids were getting tired and the trail was getting harder!  A few moms took the little kids back to camp and the rest of us kept going.  This is at one of the rest stops...

We stopped about 30-45 minutes of our ultimate goal of reaching Hell's Hole, but the dark rain clouds were quickly heading our way and we had already been gone from camp for almost 3 hours, so we drank our last bit of water and headed back down the mountain.  It was awesome, the whole hike.  Hiking is really one of my very favorite things to do!

And these kids were real troopers because that was no easy hike!

all the kids...

the moms and dads... (looking tired!)

Trek 2014
We had the priviledge of being part of a youth pioneed trek this year.  We walked some of the same trails that the mormon pioneers walked and we were "parents" to a group of youth.  We camped and dressed like pioneers and walked a total of 25 miles (pulling handcarts) in three days.  It was awesome and we were so grateful to be a part of it.

Rian was there too although she was part of a different "family".  We spent time with her every night when we got back to camp.  I loved seeing her smiling face and hearing about the wonderful things and feelings she experienced each day.  She is such a light in this world!

dancing four-square and having so much fun! :)

isn't she the most darling pioneer?!

It was just wonderful to have this experience with some of our best firends...

Martin's Cove... an incredibly beautiful and spiritual place.

our "family"!

our family at 7am (we got up and broke camp at 4:30am!) at the start of our 14.8 mile hike over Rocky Ridge.  My favorite day of the trek!  I can't say everyone else was as excited as I was!! ;)

I layed in my tent after that long day and stared at the beautiful Wyoming sky and felt so blessed...

Rian's family (and half of our total group) started the trek over Rocky Ridge about an hour after our group so when they finished their long day we were there cheering for them and welcoming them home.  Seeing my sweet Rian finish that hard day with a big smile on her face was just so special.
Such an incredible experience and one I will always be grateful for!
