The greatest joys in life are experienced in happy family relationships... the cultivation of a happy home requires effort and energy, forgiveness and patience, love and endurance and sacrifice, but it is worth all of this and more. -Gordon B. Hinkley

first day of school & a new cousin

It's family picture season so I haven't done a lot of my own family pictures lately. But I thought I would post a few pictures from the end of summer.

As usual, summer went by much too quickly.  I wasn't really ready to send the kids back to school yet!  I would have loved a few more weeks of sleeping in, spending most of the day at the pool, playing with friends, riding bikes & scooters around the neighborhood and all the other wonderful things we can do in summer.  But the first day of school came and it was quite emotional for me.  With all 4 of my younger kids at Landmark and Rian starting her first year of high school, I was just in shock over where the time has gone.  Luckily, Lucy still has 1/2 day kindergarten this year and I just can't tell you how grateful I am for that!!  I love spending the mornings with my little sugar.

Rian has started seminary (early morning scripture study) and she is amazing in that she gets up all by herself and is out the door on most mornings before anyone else is even out of bed.  I've started to get up and spend a little time with her before she leaves and I treasure that little bit of time with her.  She has also started swim team so she is gone from 5:45 am until 6 pm and that is a really long time!  I miss having her home after school with the other kids and I know they do too (because they have mentioned it multiple times!).  But she is spreading her wings and learning to fly on her own and that is the beauty and tragedy of parenting, right?! ;)

Look at those cute uniformed kids!

All the kids in the morning before Rian left for her first day (which was 2 days after the little kids first day).

We also had a new baby in our family! Luckily it wasn't me who had the baby this time, yay!! :)
Molly & Josh had another little boy and he was just adorable and tiny and all the kids loved taking their turn to hold him.
