We had one last camping trip planned before school started. We went with some of our favorite friends and had a lot of fun. (Camping with friends is the best way to go!) It was much colder than we thought it would be in late July, but we are getting use to that! Colorado camping is quite unpredictable. It was a really beautiful place to camp with the creek and trails. The kids were always off exploring somewhere and having a great time together. There were some great hikes close by as well and we plan to go back to this camp ground for sure next year!

Our camping site was just a short distance to the entrance road at mt. evans. We have always wanted to go and decided since we were already so close, we would drive up before we headed home. The drive was pretty intense at some points and a few times I wondered how many people had fallen to their deaths driving up it, but we made it!! And it was spectacular, totally worth the trip. At this point I wished I had my big camera but pictures just can't do it justice.
The altitude made my stomach a little sick at first and lucy cried a lot (after 3 days of camping, I'm not sure if it was the altitude or just being tired!) but we all loved it.
my new favorite family picture :)
sam has NO FEAR! he climbed right to the tippy top to have his picture taken. my heart skipped a few beats, but he was so excited! he kept saying he was going to tell everyone at school that he went to the top of mt. everest. it was so cute!
