The greatest joys in life are experienced in happy family relationships... the cultivation of a happy home requires effort and energy, forgiveness and patience, love and endurance and sacrifice, but it is worth all of this and more. -Gordon B. Hinkley

Seeing Santa

I am so happy to be moving on from the last post. Physical and emotional bruises seem to be healing rather quickly thanks to babies healing at lightning speed and all the wonderful mother friends of mine telling me their own scary stories. Isn't it so great to know that as mothers, we are never alone!! I love girlfriends!

ANYWAY, so on to our ward Christmas/pajama/breakfast/Santa party we had on Sat. morning. It was awesome. We love wearing our pj's around this house, so any excuse to wear them in public is always a big hit! The kids had their favorite breakfast of all time, pancakes and syrup, lots of syrup. And of coarse, SANTA was there! All the kids sat on Santa's lap this year, which is a big improvement from last year.

Here is Lucy, trying to decide what to ask Santa to bring her...

She was a little star struck at first sight...
Well, if there is one thing this little Lucy loves, its hair. She loves to touch, pull or put her face in your hair. When she noticed that this guy had all that hair on his face, she couldn't keep her hands off of it. She was too enthralled with the beard to make any requests for a gift, but boy did she loved that beard! (Maybe she wished that her daddy would grow a beard like that... or better yet, her mommy!) So cute.
Cali was very nervous about sitting on Santa's lap (she wouldn't do it last year!) but after seeing everyone else do it, she slowly approached the man who would make her fondest dream come true. "Pet Shops" was all she said. And when he asked her is she was being a good girl, she just nodded her head... well, one thing is for sure, she is dang cute! Good job Cali for being so brave this year!
Sam literally ran and jumped up onto Santa's lap. This boy is a TRUE believer and he has changed his mind 100 times about what he wanted to ask for. Lucky for us, he asked Santa for a Transformer. Santa told Sam that that was a great toy to ask for because it was like getting 2 toys in 1. Yah, Sam is one smart cookie!
Trace is our other one who would not sit on Santa's lap last year... Look who is growing up and coming out of his shell. When Santa asked him what he wanted, he just said, "Coraline". Santa had to ask him 2 more times what he wanted because I don't think he knew what Trace was talking about. Don't worry about this one big guy, Auntie Ang has it covered!!
Some may think that Rian is getting too big to sit on Santa's lap, but not me. She is still a believer and has every right to let Santa know what she wants. She is a very very good girl 98% of the time, so ask away Rian, you can have anything you want... (just keep it under $20 would ya?!). "Scrabble" you say? See, she even wants her Christmas gifts to help her get better grades and maybe make it into the spelling B next year... that girl is an angel I tell ya.

I am so grateful for all the amazing people in our ward who made this a really wonderful, perfectly planned, delicious morning for us and especially the kids.

I wish I could hear Cali say "petshops". It sounds like such a sweet little girl thing to say. She is darling. All your kids are lucky to go to such a great looking Santa!!
