The greatest joys in life are experienced in happy family relationships... the cultivation of a happy home requires effort and energy, forgiveness and patience, love and endurance and sacrifice, but it is worth all of this and more. -Gordon B. Hinkley

the race

It has been a very long time since I ran any type of race. Live sophomore in college long time (I wont mention how many actual years it has been!). I really don't like competition... at all. I don't care about winning or losing, but I want to do my best and what if I can't do it, blah blah blah! AND, I don't like working out with other people, I'm kind of a loner that way. Then, Teed moved here and she wanted to work out together... ugh! It started with walking (my favorite kind of cardio!) and then slowly we started running together and I LOVED it! We actually ended up being perfect running partners.
So we "trained" for the Brighton Turkey Trot together.  It is only a 5K, but that was a big deal to me!
A few weekends before the race I got sick and was out of commission for a week or two (just out of workout commission, not mommy commission. Does that ever happen?!) and I kind of wondered if I would actually end up doing it. Then, when I started to get better, Torrie got sick. BUT, in the end, WE DID IT and we did it faster that we thought we could. Under 30 minutes! We were very proud of ourselves and it felt good to finish together.
It was also fun to see quite a few friends at the race!
We only snapped a few pictures with the little camera, but I needed proof, so here they are!

numbers on the back!

ryan ran it too!  good job ryan!

awesome girlfriends who also ran

friends from our ward family
the end
ps.  I plan to run another soon, once it warms up a little. brrrrrr!
