The greatest joys in life are experienced in happy family relationships... the cultivation of a happy home requires effort and energy, forgiveness and patience, love and endurance and sacrifice, but it is worth all of this and more. -Gordon B. Hinkley

Detroit

Andy & I were so so lucky to have a friend who willingly watched our kids for 3 days so that we could go to detroit together (thank you kari!)

we had such a wonderful time together. detroit is not the easiest city to get around (we found ourselves (almost) in canada at one point! oops!!!). but with very little on our to-do list, we were able to explore some of the city.

this is the main reason we went to detroit...

THE MASK.

andy's injury was 1 1/2 years ago. this little custom made number will allow him to get back on the court again. we (especially he) are so excited & grateful.

sexy, isn't he??!

we took a walk on the waterfront. it was beautiful. it was a little sad. there were beautiful buildings, really beautiful.

and there were A LOT of old, broken, abandoned buildings. you could see that they were beautiful at one point. it made me sad. and the waterfront was practically empty. in the 60 minutes that walked, we maybe saw 5 people... on the waterfront. it was weird and it made me realize how bad some parts of the country are suffering.

but we also drove along streets that had the most beautiful old homes. i wish i could have stopped and taken pictures of them all. they were incredible. this was one street we drove down.

also we went to the eleanor ford house. i don't think andy was too thrilled about this idea, but it was really amazing. we loved it. we toured their home and the grounds... stunning.

this was a playhouse they built for their daughter. everything was replicated from a real house, only 2/3 the size. real kitchen, bathroom, furniture, light fixtures, only miniature. oh, i could have died it was SO CUTE!!
this was the view of canada...

on our waterfront walk
we really loved our time in detroit!

THANK YOU KARI!!!

What a neat trip! I love visiting old historic sites! I would love to see that playhouse in person! Jesse would probably prefer to play basketball with Andy, new mask and all. :) The picture of you two at the end makes me miss you guys.
